About me
Your Joomla specialist, experienced since Joomla 1.0
My name is Andy Wunderlich. I have worked with Joomla since version 1.0 and have followed the CMS through almost its entire development.
My focus is understanding, securing, migrating and carefully developing existing Joomla websites – instead of rebuilding everything from scratch.

Joomla since version 1.0
I have worked with Joomla since its early versions, so I know the current generations as well as older installations, extensions and templates that have grown over many years.
That experience matters most when a website is more than a standard installation: extensions, custom templates, overrides and one-off solutions that are no longer maintained.
Every generation covered
From Joomla 1.0 and 1.5 through 2.5 and 3 to Joomla 4, 5 and 6 – many different systems maintained, updated and migrated.
More than 1,000 migrations and client projects
From a small company site to large websites with shops, forms and user areas. I know the typical problems from daily work, not from theory:
Outdated Joomla versions
Extensions that are no longer maintained
Incompatible templates
Old PHP versions
Custom code
Failed updates
Hacked websites
Malware and malicious code
Performance problems
Technical SEO problems
Broken redirects
Server and hosting problems
A technical background, not a website builder
My background goes beyond operating a CMS. For many years I have worked with web development, databases, hosting environments, interfaces and custom applications.
As an engineer, I focus on how the pieces fit together – and on fixing the cause, not only the symptom.
A website that no longer works often fails because of an old PHP version, an outdated plugin, a template change and the server configuration at the same time.

Joomla is my focus – but not my only system
Experience with other systems lets me compare technical concepts, extensibility and maintainability. I do not have to force every problem into one system. Joomla is still one of the most flexible systems when a website needs to grow over many years.
My focus
Keeping existing systems
An existing website should not be rebuilt from scratch just because it has become technically older. Many Joomla sites hold years of content, search rankings and custom functions. Keeping that structure is often the better path.

Even when it gets complicated
The projects I find most interesting are the ones where a simple standard update is no longer possible – a site that has not been updated for years, important extensions that no longer exist, or custom changes that have to stay.
Hacked Joomla websites and installations that are technically stuck are also part of the work I do regularly.
Often the task is not to rebuild everything. It is to find out which parts can stay, which parts have to be replaced, and which technical path makes sense in the long run.

Why Joomla?
WordPress, TYPO3, Drupal, Laravel and custom solutions each have their place. Joomla is still the system I have most enjoyed working with for many years.
The mix of flexibility, extensibility, user management, multilingual content and structured content still makes Joomla a good fit for many projects.
Do you have an older Joomla website?
If an update no longer works, a migration is due, or you are not sure how to continue technically: I look at the current setup and assess which options make sense.
